A UAE-based company has pioneered a next-generation energy storage technology based on supercapacitors, offering a safer, non-chemical, and highly efficient alternative to lithium-ion batteries. Unlike traditional batteries, these systems operate in extreme temperatures (-30°C to +70°C), achieve 99.1% round-trip efficiency, and can endure over 500,000 charge/discharge cycles — translating to a 25–40 year lifespan.
The technology is built on a breakthrough in synthetic graphene, enabling scalable and cost-effective production. In 2024, the company partnered with Apex Investments, allowing it to expand manufacturing capacity to 6 GWh in Dubai and initiate a 10 GWh facility in Abu Dhabi.
Compared to lithium-ion, the solution offers not only lower lifetime costs but also significant environmental advantages — being 80% biodegradable and 100% recyclable. It is already being deployed in over 57 countries across various sectors, including telecom, electric vehicles, utilities, and data centers. The company is now collaborating with OEMs in the US, Europe, and the UAE to integrate its systems into EVs, promising fast charging, extended range, and unmatched safety.
